The
burn today went as planned today, 30 acres on the east end of the units
(ridge top) were completed. 85 acres between the upper & lower 3N24
loop road (North
facing slope) are the target for completion on Thursday.
Unfortunately
I received word that there was a rumor that the fire was thought to be
out of control. At no time was this prescribed fire an escape/wildfire.
On
site we have 1 Hotshot Crew, 3 Engines, a 1500 Water tender, a 3000 gal
fold-a-tank, 1 Hand crew, Misc. overhead & myself as lookout
(approx.. 50ppl) & towards
the very end of the day (ignition stopped at 1530) we did get 2 spot
fires that were 5ft x 5ft each right next to the line. An engine was
already in the area of the spots when they happened & were quickly
extinguished.
I
apologize for any undue stress that was caused by the misinformation
& if you ever need clarification, please contact me or your closest
Forest Service Ranger
Station. The safety of our firefighters & the public are my main
priorities in life & in my job.
Thanks for all of your cooperation and support as we try our best to minimize the hazardous fuels on Forest land.
